Novice being the easiest.
Apprentice requires a little skill.
Journeyman requires a solid understanding of chainmailing.

I use smooth 90 degree bent needle nose pliers. I don’t recommend using your hands as your fingers will get sore and it becomes difficult on tight weaves.
